First Communion Class on Sunday, June 11, 1922 at
St. Philip's Catholic Church. Leona
Cierzan is in the center row, 2nd from right. The priest is Father
Stanislaus Cieslewicz.
My mom, Leona Cierzan was born in Wibaux County MT in 1912, to Robert and
Johana Cierzan. Robert and Johana homesteaded in Wibaux County in 1910. They
gave up farming there in 1926, and the Cierzan family went back to Winona,
MN. Wibaux area resident Willie Booth had a car, and provided the Cierzan
family their ride back to Winona. Willie stayed in Winona for a little while
before moving back to Wibaux.
