Wibaux County MT
Genealogical Resources
Welcome:
 This
site is a project of MTGenWeb and USGenWeb and is maintained by
volunteer MTGenWeb
Wibaux County
Coordinator, Jim Petermann. We are grateful for the
assistance and cooperation of the Wibaux County Museum, the Wibaux Historical Society, and volunteers
Marlene Welliever and Elaine Cecil among many others. Thanks to everyone
who contributes material, stories and resources!
We welcome all queries and
questions, and we try to answer all email within 24 hours. Please
remember that the County Coordinator does not live in Wibaux County and so cannot
do on-site research. If we can't answer your question from
the resources in our possession, we do our best to locate the best source to
refer your query.
IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ:
Copyright issues are very important to us. We must observe strict policies
in order to keep our site which is provided free through the
USGenWeb and MTGenWeb projects. You may
request copies of reasonable numbers of items for personal use and research.
You MAY NOT request copies of all items
available to build a collection or for fishing expeditions. To honor such a
request would put our existence in jeopardy, not to mention place a burden
on hard-working volunteers, and we won't do that.
The definitive Wibaux County history book,
Trails Along Beaver Creek by Irene Jones
is available again in a
limited printing.
Paperback, with a new, detailed index.
The indispensible sourcebook for the
Wibaux genealogy researcher.
While they last, $20.00
plus $3.00 shipping and handling.

Lookups:
We're happy to do look-ups for anyone with a connection to Wibaux
County. Just click on the icon to send e-mail with your question. We'll
respond within 48 hours. Please remember that the site owner is not
physically located in Wibaux County, so we are NOT able to do look-ups that
require actually visiting archives. Our main resources are published
books and family histories and the Internet, and email connections with
other Wibaux folk. For official records searches your best strategy is to
write the County Clerk in Wibaux, MT 59353.
Wibaux Newspapers on Microfilm: The Montana Historical Society has filmed
almost all Montana newspapers. Research requests can be made to allow you
access to these films at your local library through Interlibrary Loan:

REGARDING CENSUS RECORDS: Wibaux County had not been formed when the
1910 Federal Census was taken. Most of the County's residents were
counted in Dawson County, in the "Wibaux School District."
Residents in the far south of the future Wibaux County were
enumerated in the "Carlyle School District" of Custer County. |
